All About Winter Wiper Blades
There are many winter vision obstacles, from snow and rain, to ice. Wiper blades carry a lifespan of about one year. Minnesota winters are especially harsh on your wiper blades. Consider getting “beam blade” style wiper blades that have no external springs to freeze on you.
Be sure to turn off your wiper blades before turning off your motor. When you start your car with frozen wipers going you risk burning out your motor. There has also been speculation regarding the advantages of popping up your wipers overnight so that they are not touching your windshield for ease in scraping off the window in the morning. Personally I believe if you scrape off your wind shield and wipers before you drive rather than leaving wipers up you reduce your chance of broken blades.
