Measure Tread Depth is Simple – Use a Coin
You should be checking the tread depth on your tires regularly to make sure there is adequate depth. In fact, in Minnesota and most states it is illegal to have less than 2/32″ of remaining tread depth. If you don’t have your tire gauge handy (or just plain don’t own one), there’s a quick, simple and really inexpensive way to check – use a penny. It takes just three simple steps:
- Get a penny.
- Place the penny into the tread groves across the tire.
- If the top of Lincoln’s head is showing, you have less than 2/32″ of tread depth.
If you have less than 2/32″ of tread left it is very important to replace your tires. Tires help your vehicle stop, especially in the extreme weather that Minnesota is known to have. Click here to schedule your appointment today!
