What are Your Tires Getting You?
Tires are an expensive purchase, so when you are looking for new ones there are some things to keep in mind. For example how do you know what you are getting when buying tires? Is it worth paying more?
“You get what you pay for” is a good way to think about tires. If you are paying more, the tires will be of higher quality. Cheaper tires are usually given a 0 mileage rating due to the lower quality of the rubber material, and the inability to guarantee buyers specific mileage. More expensive tires have a mileage rating anywhere from 30,000 up to 80,000 miles, with higher mileage correlating with higher prices. These manufacturer ratings also apply to care of your tires. If you properly maintain them and schedule regular tire rotations and alignments as needed, your tires should last the suggested mileage.
Along with higher mileage, you can also buy tires that are better for driving in conditions like wet, snowy, or slippery roads. Talk to your mechanic shop about which options would be best for you and your vehicle.
