Why it is Important to Check Your Antifreeze in the Winter
Not only is it important to make sure your vehicle has plenty of antifreeze in the summer but in the winter as well. Minnesota has some tough winter months that can take a toll on your vehicle if it is not prepared for the cold weather.
Antifreeze is in charge of transferring heat away from the engine so it does not overheat. It also prevents rust and corrosion from building up in the cooling system. In the winter time it is extremely important to make sure your vehicle has enough antifreeze because it is partly made of glycol, which prevents liquids from turning to ice.
When adding antifreeze to your vehicle it is recommended to add a 50% water and 50% antifreeze mixture. Be careful not to use too much water or too little of antifreeze because you could put your engine at risk.
